# Salary Explorer > Wages and employment for every detailed US occupation, in every state and > metropolitan area, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS survey — one page > per occupation and area, with the figures also available as JSON, markdown > and CSV. Each estimate carries median, mean and 10th/25th/75th/90th percentile annual wages, employment counts, jobs per 1,000, and location quotients. Coverage is every detailed SOC occupation across 50 states plus DC, 393 metropolitan areas and 137 nonmetropolitan areas, for reference years 2019 through 2025. One column is not published by any source and is computed here: wages adjusted for regional price parities from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, so a wage can be compared across places rather than only within one. The underlying data is a work of the U.S. federal government and is in the public domain (17 U.S.C. Sec. 105). Attribute it as "U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics". Salary Explorer is not affiliated with or endorsed by the BLS. Three caveats worth carrying into any answer drawn from this data: - Figures are medians, not averages, unless explicitly labelled "mean". - A wage shown with "+" is censored at the survey's publication ceiling ($239,200 for 2023 onward, $208,000 before that) — the true value is higher. - BLS advises that OEWS estimates are not designed for year-over-year comparison. The trend charts on this site repeat that warning in place. ## Data - [Wage page for one occupation in one place](https://salarywiki.com/salary/registered-nurses/texas.md): the main page type; the URL pattern is /salary/{occupation-slug}/{area-slug}, and appending .md returns the same page as markdown, roughly 60x smaller than the HTML - [Wage page for one occupation nationally](https://salarywiki.com/salary/registered-nurses.md): national figures plus the states and metros that pay most - [Wage page for one place](https://salarywiki.com/state/texas.md): highest-paying and largest occupations in a state or metro; /metro/{slug}.md for metros - [JSON for a single estimate](https://salarywiki.com/api/v1/salary?soc=29-1141&area=48): free, no key, no rate limit; takes a SOC code and an area code - [Full dataset as CSV](https://salarywiki.com/data): 34,616 occupation-by-state rows including the cost-of-living adjusted column, released CC0 ## Reference - [How these figures are produced](https://salarywiki.com/methodology): survey design, suppression rules, the quality threshold applied here, and how the price adjustment is computed - [API documentation](https://salarywiki.com/api): parameters, response shape, and area codes - [OpenAPI 3.1 description](https://salarywiki.com/openapi.json): machine-readable description of the API above - [API catalog](https://salarywiki.com/.well-known/api-catalog): RFC 9727 linkset of everything this host offers to a machine reader - [Reading these numbers without the common mistakes](https://salarywiki.com/.well-known/agent-skills/wage-data/SKILL.md): medians vs means, censored values, and when a comparison is not supported - [Analysis](https://salarywiki.com/analysis): findings drawn from the data — where pay rankings change once local prices are applied, and how wide one occupation's pay spreads across places ## Optional - [Every occupation, A to Z](https://salarywiki.com/salary): index of all 830 occupations - [Highest-paying jobs](https://salarywiki.com/highest-paying-jobs): nationally, and per state or metro - [About this site](https://salarywiki.com/about): what it is and who publishes it - [Sitemap](https://salarywiki.com/sitemap.xml): every indexable URL
